Personality: Not much is known about Itachi's true demeanor. From what is gathered, he is normally silent and thoughtful. In battle, he is kind towards his rival in the retrospect that he uses honorifics in conversation and will not attack until attacked at. As a child, it is said that he was aloof towards both his parents, but was kind and compassionate towards his younger brother, yet he still had "older brother syndrome" that made him pick on Sasuke just a bit. In Shippuuden ep. 18, it is also mentioned that Itachi is quite attractive and probably has good luck with the ladies. (Much to Kisame's dislike) Judging by Kisame's response, it can be assumed that his partner was approached by women frequently. Itachi's airs consist of a heartless attitude. He acts as if he cares not for human life and enjoys the suffering he inflicts, but little is even revealed about that, since he always seems so stoic both in and out of battle. | About:

Biography:
As a small child(Approx. 5 yrs old), Itachi was traumatized by the attacks waged on Konoha during the Kyuubi incident. He, even at a young age, decided he would do all in his power to protect his home from disaster.
As he aged, his clan started feeling much distrust in the village of Konoha. They felt as if they were being supressed and frowned uopn because of Madara. The Uchiha clan then began planning an attack on Konoha in order to regain the dignity the clan once posessed. The adolescent Itachi, being a prodigy and well respected member of Konoha, was chosen to be a spy for the Uchiha clan.
Itachi, however, failed to live up to his duties as an Uchiha spy, and "weaseled" information to the heads of the village in order to protect it from an uprising. As a result, he was chosen as a peacekeeper knowing that he would not be able to return to his beloved home after he completed the task.
While all of this began, Itachi's eyesight began to take a turn for the worse, which is where Sasuke came into play. The Uchiha clan would bare two sons, the youngest intended on being a sacrifice to the other. (Which started with Madara and his younger brother) Sasuke was raised to be an eye donor for Itachi, but would have to die in order for his sibling's sight to be returned. (This technique would also grant immortality to Itachi) Sasuke, being the only member of the clan whom Itachi would regret murdering, knew nothing of this, and felt that his father's cold demeanor was only because Itachi was a genius of sorts.
Not long before Itachi was designated to wipe out the Uchiha clan, his best friend and mentor, Shisui, found out about the plan and had all intentions of turning Itachi in. Uchiha silenced Shisui, making it look like a suicide after the fact.
Itachi was ordered to wipe out the entire Uchiha clan, including his mother and father, his girlfriend (Whom is never shown in the manga, and doesn't have a name), and even his younger brother. However, Itachi had plans for Sasuke. His younger sibling would have to end Madara's life.
After the slaughter, Itachi fled Konoha. Only a few people knew of his innocence, the village elders. They exploited his desire for peace, but he knew it had to be done to protect Konoha.
Little is known about Itachi's life between the ages of 14-17, but it is said that he joined the Akatsuki at 15, causing Orochimaru to leave because he was afraid of the power Itachi posessed. From then on, Itachi played the role of Akatsuki member, also spying on them in order to bring about his vision of peace.
After the death of the 3rd Hokage, Itachi returned to Konoha to signify that he was still alive. He wished not to comfront his sibling, but kept up his facade in order to protect his family's honorable name, and to persuade Sasuke to gain strength.
At some point in his life (A time is never given) Itachi became deathly ill and had to take medicine in order to live long enough to see that Sasuke came to strength.
Even until his demise, Itachi upheld his illusion of heartless murderer. During his final battle with his younger sibling, he persisted with his image and even implanted an illusion in Sasuke's mind in which Itachi was in pursuit of his eyes. Eventually, Itachi did fall to the hand of his brother, aided by his illness, but before he did, he transferred all of his abilities to Sasuke in hopes that he would defeat Madara.
Madara explained all of this to Sasuke, who refused to believe any of what was said. He chose to perform an assault on Konoha, now aided by his brother's powers, his subordinates, the remaining Akatsuki, and Madara.
Itachi's body disappeared after his death. It is rumored that Zetsu devoured Itachi's body upon his death. It is also rumored that Itachi is in fact alive, but neither theory has been proven, and may never be explained.
